DDC-3330 & DDC-3340  ASI / SPI Network Interface Adapters  DDC-3330

DDC-3330 Limited Stock

DDC-3340 obsolete Stock - no longer Available

Features

  • Rate independent from 1.5 Mb/s to 50 Mb/s.
  • Modular format compatible with IRT fibre optic, distribution amplifier and switcher modules.

Applications:

  • ASI conversion for transport via coaxial cable or fibre optic links to distant sites.
  • Interfacing various MPEG2 TS formats.
  • Block length indication and error detection.
  • Connections to modulators or test equipment.
  • Signal monitoring for remote alarm indications

General

The DDC-3330 and DDC-3340 are part of a family of data transcoders for converting between the commonly used MPEG2 Transport Stream formats in the broadcast industry for video distribution.
Any SPI input data rate within the range of 1.5 to 50 Mb/s will be converted to the corresponding rate within a 270 Mb/s ASI stream by the DDC-3340. The DDC-3330 provides the complementary conversion from ASI to SPI format.
The SPI (Synchronous Parallel Interface MPEG2) format is convenient for data manipulation, but is not suited to transporting signals over more than a few metres.

The ASI (Asynchronous Serial Interface 270 Mb/s) format can easily carry data over several hundred metres on coaxial cable or many kilometres on fibre optic cable.
The DDC-3330 & 3340 do not perform any signal correction or alter the format of the MPEG2 transport stream. They only change the transport stream electrical format and monitor the signal for MPEG2 transport stream sync errors.

DDC-3335     Limited Stock

ASI / SPI Network Interface Adapter with RS Encoding

Features

  • Standard 75 Ω ASI-C input

  • 188 to 204 byte packet conversion

  • Rate independent from 1.5 Mb/s to 50 Mb/s

  • Automatic Reed Solomon encoding

  • Interleaving and Energy Dispersal (Scrambling)

  • Two ASI outputs plus serial to parallel conversion for output as SPI

  • Automatic input equaliser to >250 m

  • IRT Eurocard format

Applications:

  • ASI conversion for transport via Telecom links

  • Connection to IRT's QPSK modulator for transport via analogue microwave links

  • Connection to products requiring SPI inputs

General

The DDC-3335 is part of a family of data transcoders for converting between the commonly used MPEG2 Transport Stream formats in the broadcast industry for video distribution.
The DDC-3335 accepts any ASI input data rate within the range of 1.5 Mb/s to 50 Mb/s.
The DDC-3335 accepts either a 188 or 204 byte packet format ASI signal. For a 188 byte packet ASI input, Reed Solomon check bytes are automatically added to convert the signal to a 204 byte packet signal. For a 204 byte packet ASI input, existing RS check bytes are over-written.
Interleaving and Energy Dispersal (Scrambling) of the signal is also performed. These two functions may be disabled by the insertion of on board links.
188 to 204 byte conversion & RS encoding are also link enabled/disabled. Disabling 188 to 204 byte conversion disables RS insertion and interleaving automatically. Two ASI and 1 SPI outputs conforming to the DVB standard are provided.
The addition of RS encoding and optional Interleaving and Scrambling make the DDC-3335 suitable for preparing an ASI signal for transport over Telecom type lines or, in conjunction with IRT's MDT-3510 QPSK modulator, microwave links.
The signal is also monitored for MPEG2 transport stream sync errors and provides front panel LED indications for input packet byte length, loss of input and loss of sync. Alarm relay contacts are also provided on the rear connector for remote monitoring of alarm status.
The DDC-3335 is fabricated in IRT's standard Eurocard format and may be housed in a variety of IRT Eurocard frames alongside other standard modules.

DDC-3471   SPI to SPI, ASI Network Interface Adapter  Limited Stock

Features

  • Reed Solomon insertion & correction.
  • Interleaving or de-interleaving.
  • Scrambling or de-scrambling.
  • Block length indication and error detection.
  • Supplement to test equipment.

General

The DDC-3471 is part of a family of data transcoders for converting between the commonly used MPEG2 Transport Stream formats in the broadcast industry for video distribution.
The DDC-3471 allows SPI to SPI and SPI to ASI conversion for any rate in the range of 2 Mb/s to 60 Mb/s and also allows Reed Solomon correction and the insertion or removal of interleaving and MPEG2 transport stream scrambling. This makes it an ideal adjunct to test equipment or for matching signal from various sources using different encoding options.
The adapters find particular application in CATV/SMATV Headends where equipment from different manufacturers uses different interfaces or where connection to test equipment is required from various sources.

The DDC-3471 accepts SPI input format only, but provide simultaneous outputs in SPI format and in ASI-C.
The formats available are:
SPI Synchronous Parallel Interface MPEG2
ASI Asynchronous Serial Interface 270 Mb/s Coaxial cable
