AAD-4130
Audio Detector
with Stereo Phase & Fail Alarm
Features
-
Individual left and right failure
outputs.
-
Stereo out of phase output.
-
Adjustable threshold on each output.
-
Adjustable fail and restore times
-
Relay isolated outputs.
-
Front panel indications.
-
Remote, local or auto reset.
General
The AAD-4130 audio detector is designed to
be used to detect the presence of a stereo program signal and provide
alarm outputs on failure of the left, right or both channels and of
stereo phase reversal. Alternately the AAD-4130 can be used to monitor
two mono audio circuits and provide individual alarm outputs on failure
of a audio circuit.
The AAD-4130 will accept audio signals in the range -20 dBm to +20 dBm
from a balanced or unbalanced source, presenting an input impedance of
10 kOhms.
The detector circuitry consists of precision rectifier circuits driving
comparators. These enable oscillators to trigger dual monostable
circuits allowing the response time of the alarm circuits to be set
The response time is set by means of DIP
switches in the RC timing circuit and is adjustable from 5 to 160
seconds for the AUDIO FAIL time out and 5 to 40 seconds for the AUDIO
PRESENT response time, the adjustment being made in 5 second steps.
The alarm circuitry consists of latching circuits triggered by the
detector circuits. These drive two relays whose contacts are available
at the rear panel of the AAD-4130.
The alarm circuits can be reset automatically upon return of the audio
signals or by a contact closure from the front panel or a remote
circuit.
Visual indication of the state of the AAD-4130 detector and alarm
circuits is provided by LED indicators on the front panel.

monitoring.
-
Headphone amp for
multilingual conferences.
General
The AAP-3190 has been
designed to fulfil the role of a general purpose audio
monitoring amplifier for the broadcast industry.
Most monitoring applications only require low audio power
levels, but high quality performance in the smallest
convenient packaging. The Eurocard format is ideal for this
use as it allows these monitoring amplifiers to be
positioned in the same frame as other modules such as audio
distribution amplifiers and switchers.
The front panel of the unit features two LED bargraph
displays with VU drivers for visual indication of input
levels. These may be switched to indicate Left + Right and
Left - Right so that the phase of a stereo signal may be
checked.

General
The DAI-3206 is a high performance audio
embedder for 270 Mbit SDI video signals. It supersedes the earlier
DAI-3200 audio embedder.
Existing embedded data packets may be optionally removed and/or replaced
via link settings on the PCB.
Each DAI-3206 is capable of inserting one audio group (2 AES signals, 4
analogue channels or combination of AES and analogue pair channels) into
an existing SDI video stream. Group position selection is made by the
front panel local control. Note that when inserting 2 AES streams, both
channels must be frequency locked to each other. Analogue audio is
automatically locked to the other AES signal, if present, or else to the
SDI video input.The DAI-3206
supports AES/EBU synchronous/ asynchronous 48 kHz, 20-bit audio data
packets.
An audio presence indicator is provided for each input. If one AES or
analogue audio pair is missing then those particular channels are set to
zero. If both AES and/or analogue audio pairs are missing (dependent on
mode selected), then no packets are inserted.
The DAI-3206 complements the
DAX-3206
audio extractor.
The DAI-3206 is fabricated in IRT's standard Eurocard format and may be
housed in a variety of IRT Eurocard frames alongside other standard
modules.

IRT
Eurocard format
General
The DAX-3206 is
a high performance embedded audio extractor for
270 Mbit SDI video signals. It is primarily
designed to operate with IRT's DAI-3206 digital
audio inserter but will work on any embedded SDI
source.
A typical SDI signal may contain up to eight
audio pairs arranged in four groups. Each
DAX-3206 is capable of extracting one audio
group (2 AES / 4 analogue) from those available.
Selection is made via a front panel local
control switch.
The DAX-3206 supports AES/EBU synchronous and
asynchronous audio at 48kHz, 20-bit audio data
packets.
Both analogue and digital audio outputs are
provided so that the one module may be used for
all applications in monitoring and processing.
The use of digital audio filtering and 20-bit
digital to analogue converters produce studio
quality analogue audio and the AES/EBU digital
interface allows digital interconnection in
either balanced or unbalanced formats.
An audio
presence indicator is provided for each group
output. If no audio is detected the
corresponding output is muted.
The DAX-3206 complements the
DVC-4112 SDI to analogue video converter for
full conversion of SDI signals to analogue video
and audio.
The DAX-3206 comes configured standard with 110
Ω balanced AES/EBU outputs. 75 Ω unbalanced
outputs are available by insertion of links on
the rear assembly.
The DAX-3206 is fabricated in IRT's standard
Eurocard format and may be housed in a variety
of IRT Eurocard frames alongside other standard
modules.
